A man has been arrested in Anfield after police stopped a car and found suspected cocaine hidden in his underwear. Officers from the Matrix team stopped a Kia Nero on Lanseer Road just before 8.30pm on Tuesday, September 22, after noticing suspected drug dealing.
Search finds drugs and cash
During a search, officers found 50 wraps of suspected cocaine concealed in a black sock hidden in the man's underwear, along with money and two phones in the car. One of the phones was constantly ringing and receiving text messages.
A further search was carried out at a house, where 120 wraps of suspected cocaine, a bag of cannabis, drugs paraphernalia and £2,000 in cash were discovered.
Arrest and investigation
A 43-year-old man from Anfield was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled Class A drug and possession of criminal property. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Neighbourhood Chief Inspector Andrew Fielding said: "This is a good result where suspected drug dealing has been uncovered by Matrix officers, and a man has been arrested in connection with this.
"Drug dealing is hugely damaging to our communities, and this is part of our proactive work to ensure we take offenders supplying drugs off our streets.
"We rely on information from the public and I would ask our community to be our eyes and ears.
"I would ask anyone who has information about this kind of activity to come forward so action can be taken."
