A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering two women in London five months apart, with the second allegedly committed while he was under investigation for the first, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Carmenza Trujillo, 53, was found dead in a building on the Aylesbury Estate in Walworth, south-east London, on 17 March. The man was arrested on 1 April but released under investigation. Sheryl Wilkins, 39, was found unresponsive on High Road in Tottenham, north London, on 24 August, over seven miles from the first scene. The suspect was arrested on 4 September on suspicion of murdering Wilkins and rearrested for Trujillo's murder.
Detectives are exploring whether the women were sex workers and if they knew each other. DCI Neil John said: 'No woman should feel unsafe in our city, and we know this news will cause concern across communities.' The man remains in custody.
