A man involved in a 48-hour rooftop stand-off with police in Salford has been arrested and returned to prison.
The man had been on the roof of a building on Ash Street, near the junction with Field Street, since Thursday evening (August 13). A cordon was in place as the man was pictured throwing tiles from the roof.
Negotiator called in
A negotiator was called in to attempt to talk down the man, who was seen wearing a jumper with the name of Leonardo DiCaprio printed on the front.
Tonight Greater Manchester Police confirmed the incident had been brought to a 'safe conclusion'.
Arrest and charges
In a statement, the force said: "Emergency services have been responding to an ongoing incident at a property on Ash Street in Salford.
"As the incident has now been brought to a safe conclusion, a 37-year-old man, who was wanted on recall to prison by another police force, has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, public order offences and burglary. He is in our custody."
Community impact and thanks
A cordon has been in place whilst one person was displaced from their home. They will now be returned.
The force added: "We would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding whilst emergency service personnel have been dealing with this incident."
