Man arrested after stabbing in Neath town centre

A man has been arrested following reports of a stabbing in Neath on Friday evening.

Emergency services were called to reports of a man being stabbed on Commercial Street at around 10.30pm on October 2. A 30-year-old from Sandfields, Port Talbot was taken to hospital with injuries. He has since been discharged.

Arrest made in Gloucestershire

In an update issued on Monday, Police said a 30-year-old man from Port Talbot was arrested after travelling to Gloucestershire. He remains in police custody at this time.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "Officers attended Commercial Street, Neath at around 10.30pm on Friday October 2 following a report of a stabbing.

"A 30-year-old man from Sandfields, Neath Port Talbot has received medical treatment and has since been discharged from hospital.

"The suspect, a 30-year-old man from Neath Abbey, Neath Port Talbot, was arrested on Sunday night in Gloucestershire. He is currently in police custody.

"The suspect and victim are not known to each other."
