Police have arrested a man after a brick was brought into the grounds of a primary school in Salford, prompting a lockdown. The incident occurred at St Marks R C Primary School on Queensway at around 10am on Friday, June 19.
Arrest on Rake Lane
Images captured the moment a man was detained by officers on nearby Rake Lane. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the 36-year-old man was taken to hospital after officers gained control of him. He was later arrested on suspicion of breaching a court order and criminal damage.
School Lockdown and Closure
St Marks R C Primary School went into lockdown, and parents were urged to collect their children. The school remained closed for the rest of the day. Police vehicles and a crime scene investigation van were stationed outside the school.
No Injuries Reported
A GMP spokesperson stated that the man, who was potentially suffering a medical episode, entered the school grounds with a brick, causing alarm to staff and pupils and damaging a window. No children or staff were hurt.
Police responded quickly and gained control of the man, who was taken by ambulance to hospital. The school decided to close for the day and send children home.
