A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after three people were injured when a vehicle drove onto a pavement in Bristol's Stokes Croft area.
Incident details
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 6.30am on Sunday, August 9, following a collision after an 'incident of disorder'. Two of the three injured individuals sustained minor injuries, but one person was rushed to hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be as severe as initially feared, police added.
Footage obtained by BristolLive shows a vehicle mounting the kerb on Stokes Croft as pedestrians were making their way along the street.
Police response and road closures
A police cordon remains in position, and members of the public are advised there will be a heightened police presence in the vicinity. Thomas Street, Hepburn Road, Stokes Croft, and City Road remain shut this afternoon, and drivers are urged to find alternative routes where possible.
A local business was also damaged during the incident, police confirm.
Arrest and investigation
A man, believed to be the motorist, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and dangerous driving. At the time of reporting, he remains in police custody while officers continue their investigation. The man thought to be the driver was also treated for facial injuries.
