Driver Detained After Driving Through Lytham Club Day Barriers
A 40-year-old man from Warton has been arrested after driving a car through road closures during Lytham Club Day in Lancashire on Saturday, June 27. The incident occurred just before midday on Albert Street, where the Honda HR-V was driven at low speed through security barriers set up for the community celebration.
Photographs from the scene show members of the public holding the driver down on the pavement until police officers arrived. The vehicle was brought to a stop, and the driver was detained without further incident.
Arrest and Investigation
Lancashire Police confirmed the man was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs and assault. He remains in custody for questioning. No injuries were reported, and police have stated there is no ongoing or wider threat to the public.
In a statement, Fylde Police said: "You may be aware of an incident at Lytham Club Day a little earlier today... The car, a Honda HR-V, was brought to a stop and the driver was detained. A man aged 40 from Warton was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs and assault."
