Man airlifted after horror crash near Wigtown

A 26-year-old man was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow following a serious single-vehicle collision on the A714 near Wigtown, Dumfries and Galloway.

Crash details

Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 8:35 pm on Saturday, June 27, 2026, after a silver Renault Megane left the road. The man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, sustained serious injuries and was subsequently airlifted by Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. His current condition remains unknown.

Police investigation

Police Scotland has launched an inquiry into the circumstances of the crash. Road Policing Sergeant David Kerr stated: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or the vehicle prior, and who hasn’t already spoken to officers to get in touch. Additionally, I would appeal to anyone who was driving in the area and who may have dash cam footage which could assist to contact us.”
