A 21-year-old man has died following a brawl in Glasgow city centre. Police were alerted to a disturbance in Royal Exchange Square around 3.05am on Sunday, 4 October.
Assault and death
The man was assaulted and sustained serious injuries. He was taken to hospital, where he died on Monday, 5 October. A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the disturbance and released pending further enquiries.
Other injuries and arrests
Another man, aged 21, was also assaulted and sustained minor injuries during the incident. A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with this. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.
Police appeal
Detective Inspector Jonny MacKinnon said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died. No one has been arrested in connection with the death of the man at this time and extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. Anyone with information who has not already spoken to officers is asked to contact us on 101, quoting incident number 0494 of Sunday, 4 October, 2026.”
