Two teenagers have been charged after police discovered two large machetes during a stop-and-search at London Euston station on Sunday afternoon. The boys, aged 15 and 16, were initially spoken to by British Transport Police officers about a ticket issue before the weapons were recovered.
A witness who filmed the incident described being horrified to see such blades on the London Underground. In the video, one boy in a tracksuit hangs his head while officers conduct the search, as a woman and small child walk past. The witness told the Daily Mail the machetes looked even larger in person than on camera, and heard one youth plead: 'Allow it, please, it’s not mine.'
British Transport Police confirmed that at around 2pm on October 5, officers established grounds for a search and recovered two machetes. Both teenagers were arrested and taken into custody, where they were further arrested on suspicion of breaching court bail in an unrelated matter. They have been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and appeared at Bromley Youth Court on Monday.
