A woman was brought down safely from a bridge after the M60 was closed for several hours, police have confirmed.
The anti-clockwise stretch of the motorway was shut off between junction 27 for Portwood in Stockport and junction 24, for Denton at around 3am in the early hours of this morning (Friday, September 25).
Police incident near Bredbury
Police were dealing with an incident near junction 25 for Bredbury, National Highways said, with congestion stretching back around a mile.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have now confirmed they were called to concerns over the welfare of a woman. A spokesperson said she was eventually brought down safely from a bridge.
Motorway reopened
The motorway has since reopened. In an update at 5:30am, National Highways said: "The carriageway has now reopened following an earlier police led incident. Closure is in the process of being removed."
"No residual delays on the approach. Have a safe onward journey."
