Greater Manchester Police have issued an update after a man was left fighting for his life following a fall from a bridge on the M60 in Tameside. The incident occurred on Monday night (June 15), prompting an emergency response that closed the motorway in both directions.

Incident Details

Emergency services were called to the stretch of motorway between junctions 23 at Ashton-under-Lyne and 24 at Denton at around 8.30pm. Police reported that a man was seen 'on the wrong side of a bridge' and subsequently fell onto the carriageway below.

In an update issued on Wednesday morning, GMP confirmed that the man's injuries, initially described as critical, are now considered life-changing but not life-threatening. The man remains in hospital receiving treatment. Police enquiries have been ongoing since Monday night.

Road Closure

The M60 was closed in both directions while emergency services worked at the scene. Drivers were advised to take alternative routes. The motorway reopened at approximately 10.30pm on Monday night.
