The M6 motorway is fully closed in both directions near Stoke-on-Trent following a 'very serious' crash. The incident occurred on the northbound carriageway between junctions 15 and 16 at around 4.10am on Monday, August 17, and involved three HGVs and a car, according to National Highways.
Investigation and Closure Details
Police, firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene, and the motorway was shut to allow for their work. An investigation is underway on the northbound carriageway, which will remain closed into this afternoon. The southbound side is closed temporarily to install screens around the scene and to provide access for emergency services.
Delays and Diversions
Long queues and delays are reported up to the closure. Diversion routes have been put in place on both sides of the M6 using the exit and entry slip roads between junctions 15 and 16. National Highways advised: "Road users planning on using the M6 northbound towards J15 or southbound towards J16 this morning should expect delays to increase quickly and allow plenty of extra time for their journeys."
No further details on the crash or any injuries have been released at this stage.
