The M6 in Staffordshire is closed in both directions between J15 Hanchurch Interchange and J16 Barthomley Interchange following a 'very serious' crash involving three lorries and a car. The collision occurred at approximately 04:10 on Monday 17 August on the northbound carriageway, and the closure is expected to remain into the afternoon.
Emergency services at the scene
Staffordshire Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service, Staffordshire Fire & Rescue and National Highways units attended the incident promptly. They confirmed the collision is very serious and the closure will be protracted.
Driver warnings
National Highways stated: "The M6 in Staffordshire is closed in both directions between J15 Hanchurch Interchange (Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme A500) and J16 Barthomley Interchange (Stoke-on-Trent, Crewe, Nantwich, Chester A500)." Drivers have been warned that the closure is likely to remain into this afternoon.
