M4 closed both ways after police incident near Porthcawl

Long delays are reported on the M4 in south Wales on Tuesday afternoon following a police incident. Officers are at the scene at Junction 35, and a section of the motorway is closed in both directions.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

South Wales Police statement

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "We're at the scene of an incident on the M4 at Junction 36, Sarn. The road is currently closed in both directions between Junction 35 for Pencoed, and Junction 36 for Sarn. Please avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Thank you for your patience."

Traffic Wales update

According to Traffic Wales, both carriageways of the M4 are shut between Junction 35 at Pencoed and Junction 37 at Pyle. Traffic is being diverted off the motorway near Porthcawl, with significant disruption expected.
