A lorry crashed into a building in the village of Banks, Lancashire, on Thursday morning, prompting a large emergency response and road closures.
Emergency services were called to Church Road at around 7.27am after reports of a single-vehicle crash involving a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and a house. Images from the scene show the lorry veering off the road and wedged between two houses, causing damage to one property.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service deployed four fire engines from Tarleton, Chorley, Bamber Bridge and Southport, along with its Urban Search and Rescue team. A spokesperson said crews remained in attendance at the scene on Bonds Lane.
Lancashire Police urged the public to avoid the area due to major traffic disruption. Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage to call 101 quoting log 318 of 28th May.
It is not yet known if anyone was injured. A police officer at the scene indicated the road would be closed for some time. Residents took to social media after hearing multiple emergency vehicles, with one posting: 'Was wondering what all the sirens were for. Hope all involved are OK.'
