Huyton Lane remains closed after man's medical episode

A police cordon remains in place on Huyton Lane in Huyton hours after a man in his 60s suffered a suspected medical episode. Merseyside Police was called to the scene at around 1.10am today (Monday, September 14) following reports that the man needed medical attention.

Man taken to hospital

The man was taken to hospital for treatment. Huyton Lane remains closed while police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officers remain at the scene as part of their initial inquiries, and diversions are currently in place.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that emergency services were called to a concern for safety of a man in Huyton in the early hours of this morning.

"At around 1.10am today (Monday, September 14), we received a report that a man, aged in his 60s, needed medical attention on Huyton Lane.

"He was taken to hospital after suffering a suspected medical episode and officers remain at the scene as part of initial inquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

"A road closure is in place as this work continues."

Diversions in place

A Knowsley Council spokesperson said: "Following a police incident on Huyton Lane (between Whiston Lane and Hurst Park Drive) Huyton Lane is currently closed.

"Traffic is being diverted along Longview Lane, and Hurst Park Drive and vice versa.

"We will provide an update once the road is reopened."
