Human remains discovered behind an abandoned school in Philadelphia have been linked through DNA to 23-year-old Kada Scott, who has been missing since October 4. A rapid DNA test showed a 99.9 percent match with samples from Scott's parents, according to FOX29.
The remains were found Saturday in a shallow grave in a wooded area near Awbury Arboretum, following an anonymous tip. Police had been searching the area after Scott's phone last pinged there before being deactivated. The remains have been turned over to the Medical Examiner's Office for formal identification.
Scott was last seen clocking in for her night shift at an assisted living facility in Chestnut Hill. She left work early, and her car was later found in the parking lot with her phone, iPad, and keys missing. Her parents reported conflicting accounts from the facility about her whereabouts.
On Wednesday, police arrested 21-year-old Keon King in connection with Scott's abduction. He is also charged with kidnapping in a separate case where a woman was allegedly strangled but survived. Prosecutors say King was the last person in contact with Scott before she disappeared.
Investigators recovered Scott's debit card and phone case from an abandoned school near the arboretum. King's car, a 1999 gold Toyota Camry, was found in East Falls. Surveillance footage showed the driver arriving and leaving within 35 minutes. King is being held on $2.5 million bail.
