A major police investigation has been launched after a gruesome discovery of human remains inside two suitcases on Bristol's iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge sent shockwaves through the city.
Avon and Somerset Police were called to the world-famous landmark around 11:57pm on Wednesday night after reports of a man behaving suspiciously. Officers arrived to find two suitcases containing human remains, though the suspect had already fled the scene.

Police have revealed that the suspect was last seen heading towards the Leigh Woods area after abandoning the suitcases. Witnesses reported seeing a man with a black jacket, possibly wearing gloves, who may have had a noticeable limp.
"We've already carried out initial enquiries and there will be continued, highly visible police patrols in the area over the coming days," Detective Superintendent Haskins added. "We'd urge anyone who saw anything suspicious or has any information to contact us immediately."
