Hit-and-run driver leaves girl, 11, with serious fractures in Old Swan

An 11-year-old girl suffered serious fractures and was taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Old Swan. The vehicle, which has not been identified by police, failed to stop at the scene and drove off towards Edge Lane Drive and Queens Drive.

Incident details

The incident happened at the junction of Broad Green Road and Heliers Road on Friday, October 2. A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "It was reported that at around 3.10pm a road traffic collision occurred at the junction of Broad Green Road and Heliers Road involving a vehicle and an 11-year-old pedestrian.

"The girl suffered serious fractures as a result of the incident but has since been discharged from hospital. The vehicle failed to stop at the scene and continued towards Edge Lane Drive and Queens Drive."

Investigation underway

An investigation is underway including carrying out CCTV and witness enquiries in the area. Roads Policing Sergeant Jeremy Ferguson said: "We are appealing to the motorist to come forwards to help us with our enquiries and would urge them to contact us as soon as possible.

"We are also keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this collision to please contact us. Any motorists who were in the vicinity we ask you to please review your dashcam footage in your vehicle to see if it captured the incident to help with our enquiries.

"If you saw the collision, including the events leading up to it, then we would be grateful to hear from you."
