A man has admitted attempted murder after stabbing a 19-year-old Bulgarian in a Tesco car park in Surrey, in an attack prosecutors described as an act of far-right terrorism. Vincent Fuller, 50, of Viola Avenue, Stanwell, pleaded guilty to the charge at Kingston Crown Court, along with possession of a bladed article.
The court heard that Fuller thrust a blade through Dimitar Mihaylov's car window on 16 March, a day after 51 Muslims were killed in the Christchurch mosque shootings. Before the attack, Fuller had posted on Facebook supporting the alleged Christchurch gunman, writing: 'I am English, no matter what the government say kill all the non English and get them all out of our of England.'
Prosecutors said Fuller approached Mr Mihaylov's car and shouted 'you are going to die' as he swiped at him through the open window. The attack came after Fuller had approached a neighbour of south Asian descent armed with a baseball bat, and was later heard shouting 'white supremacy' and 'I'm going to kill Muslims'.
Fuller admitted affray and causing racially aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress, in addition to the earlier charges. He denies that the attack was an act of terrorism, but accepts it was racially motivated. A judge will decide whether his actions amounted to terrorism at a sentencing hearing scheduled for 5 September.
