A major emergency services response is under way near Heaton Park tram stop in Prestwich, Greater Manchester, with police cordons in place and tram services disrupted.
According to the Manchester Evening News, a large number of police and ambulance vehicles have gathered near the Royal Oak pub on Whittaker Lane this evening, September 22. Witnesses have also reported seeing an air ambulance arrive at the scene.
Roads blocked and cordons in place
Police have blocked access to Whittaker Lane, with motorists being turned away. Officers are working behind two cordons, while the Metrolink stop at Heaton Park has been closed in both directions since around 6.30pm.
Tram diversions and advice
The Bee Network has advised passengers to use Bowker Vale or Prestwich instead. Greater Manchester Police has been contacted for further information, and the nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed.
