Kenneth Falconer, 31, has been jailed for 16 months after breaking a female police officer's arm during a struggle. He admitted assaulting the officer to her severe injury at Hamilton Sheriff Court.
Incident outside parents' home
The attack happened outside his parents' home in Balfron Crescent, Hamilton, on May 10. Falconer also admitted assaulting his father, Kenneth senior, 63, and breaching bail orders that kept him away from the property.
Prosecutor Daisy Bentley said Falconer arrived intoxicated after 9pm and punched his father multiple times. Police were called and found Falconer in the garden.
Officer's injury
Ms Bentley told the court: "They tried to handcuff him but he began to pull at the officer, bending her wrist and applying pressure. He was asked repeatedly to stop this but pushed the officer to the ground while once again applying pressure and twisting her wrist."
She screamed out in pain, saying she thought he had broken her arm. A colleague called for emergency help, but Falconer was restrained before other officers arrived. The officer was taken to hospital, where a fracture was confirmed.
Background and sentencing
Falconer, a father of one, had previous convictions. Defence lawyer Ian Scott said his offending resulted from a relationship breakdown. Mr Scott stated: "He has gone from being a law-abiding family man with a job to someone in jail for breaking a police officer's arm."
The sentence was backdated as Falconer has been in custody since his arrest in May.
