Guilty: man murdered student with Sikh ceremonial knife

A man has been found guilty of murdering an 18-year-old finance student in Southampton, using a Sikh ceremonial knife with a 21-centimetre blade.

Details of the attack

Vickrum Digwa, 23, stabbed Henry Nowak five times on December 3, 2025, including a fatal wound to the heart. Before the attack, Digwa told the victim, "I am a bad man." The incident occurred in Southampton, where Nowak was studying finance.

Trial and verdict

At Southampton Crown Court on Thursday, Digwa was found guilty of murder and carrying a bladed weapon. He had claimed self-defence, alleging a racist attack, but the prosecution dismissed this as a "wicked lie." His mother, Kiran Kaur, 53, was also convicted of assisting an offender by removing the weapon from the scene.
