Anti-immigration protesters have gathered in Gosport this evening after the Home Office confirmed it is monitoring a small boat in the Channel. Crowds were filmed chanting “deport the f***ing lot” as police officers formed a line to block them.
Police response and restrictions
A dispersal order is currently in place in Gosport and Portsmouth, along with a ban on masks and face coverings. Hampshire Police said: “We have deployed officers to the area to support our partners in the event of an emergency at sea, and to facilitate peaceful protest.”
Police are at the scene, and the situation is being monitored. The protest comes as authorities track a small boat attempting to cross the Channel.
