A fire that broke out at a former nightclub in Glasgow in the early hours of Tuesday morning is being treated as 'wilful', police have confirmed.
The fire at the three-storey derelict building on Sauchiehall Street was reported at around 1.36am on Tuesday, September 1. A number of local roads were locked down as The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service tackled the blaze, including Sauchiehall Street between Pitt Street and Douglas Street, and Renfrew Street at Scott Street and Dalhousie Street.
Roads reopened after blaze
Police have now reopened the roads this evening. Officers added that there are no reported injuries and enquiries are ongoing. Nine fire appliances, one height appliance, and three specialist resources rushed to the scene at the former Jumpin' Jaks bar and club.
Emergency services remain in attendance throughout the day, including a large police presence. The front of the nightclub building is taped off as officers investigate the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Roads closed due to a fire at a derelict building on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow have been reopened."
"The fire was reported around 2am on Tuesday, 1 September, 2026 and is being treated as wilful. There are no reported injuries and enquiries are ongoing."
