A teenage boy has been seriously injured following a shooting at a school in Södertälje, Sweden, and police have arrested a 14-year-old girl.

Police operation in Ronna

Police launched a major operation after receiving a report of gunshots at the school in the city of Södertälje. According to TV4 Nyheterna, police suspect the 14-year-old girl was the shooter. She has since been arrested.

Police have released little information about the incident, but confirmed someone had been found with gunshot wounds. Police spokesperson Robert Sennerdal said: "I can confirm that we have an operation in Ronna after callers reported banging. There is suspicion of a serious crime."

Suspect had escaped treatment centre

Local news sites report the girl had escaped from a treatment centre nearby. She was said to be carrying a weapon when she was arrested.
