An 11-year-old girl has been found dead at a park in the Midlands shortly after being reported missing. West Mercia Police have launched an investigation into the discovery and said the youngster's death is being treated as "unexplained" at this stage.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "An investigation has been launched after the body of an 11-year-old girl was found in Elmley Castle, Worcestershire."
"The girl was reported missing at around 11.20pm yesterday evening (Sunday 4 October) and was later found deceased in the park near the cricket ground."
"Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers."
