Freddy Brazier's pocket bully, Pablo, attacked his grandmother Jackiey Budden days before the dog mauled Freddy himself, leaving him requiring hospital treatment. Neighbors reportedly called the police after hearing screams from Jackiey during the first incident.
Neighbors raised alarm after nan attacked
In the days leading up to the attack on Freddy, neighbors were forced to call the cops after Jackiey was injured by the same dog. A neighbor reportedly heard cries from Jackiey as the pocket bully was left "gripping" onto her with its teeth. London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police are said to have attended the scene, but no criminal charges were brought.
A source said: "It's been a shocking few days. During the first incident, Jackiey was home alone, and she was mauled – on this occasion, one of her panicked neighbours raised the alarm." The source added: "Both the police and the fire brigade attended, but fortunately it wasn't too serious – and they agreed not to pursue criminal charges."
Freddy attacked days later
On Monday, it was confirmed that Freddy, 21, was left requiring stitches after Pablo attacked him. After being mauled, he presented himself to his local accident and emergency department but later discharged himself due to long waiting times. However, he returned to the hospital due to the severity of his injuries and required stitches.
Sources say it's been "awful" for Freddy, who "absolutely adores Pablo," adding that the dog is a huge part of his family. A spokesperson for the son of Jade Goody and Jeff Brazier told the Mirror: "Freddy is currently being treated – we will keep everyone updated on his recovery."
Background on the dog and Freddy's views
Freddy welcomed Pablo into his family last summer but became involved in an argument with his now ex-girlfriend and the mother of his child over the dog. Holly allegedly attempted to take the dog during a heated row. Pocket bullies are identical to XL bullies but are exempt from the ban on the breed, which came into force in 2024, because they are shorter.
Last year, Freddy stated that he prefers dogs to humans after helping out at the London Dog Club. He said: "Do you prefer dogs or people? I personally at this moment in time prefer dogs," before adding in the comments: "People are draining, dogs are healing!"
Freddy's mental health work
Freddy has teamed up with mental health charity Mind, as he "loves" what the organisation stands for. He told the Mirror: "It's really hard. But I don’t think it's because I come from a family that's in the public eye. I've just developed very bad coping mechanisms over the years, not dealt with my issues in the correct way. Now that I'm a dad, I'm fighting against those. I'm doing therapy - a lot of therapy. I'm staying healthy by exercising, getting out into the fresh air and walking - I'm walking, all the time!"
The Mirror has approached the Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade for comment.
