Police are appealing for information after the body of a man was recovered from the River Thames, marking the fourth such discovery in recent weeks. The deceased has been identified as Mohamed Mussa, a 27-year-old Dutch national who lived in Wandsworth, south-west London.
Mr Mussa was reported missing on Sunday, and his body was found in the water at approximately 8am on Tuesday. Inquiries into his death are ongoing, with the Metropolitan Police treating it as unexplained.
He was last seen walking alone on Putney High Street at 5.29am on Sunday, wearing a navy trenchcoat, light blue shirt, dark trousers and canvas trainers. Detective Chief Inspector Jim Shirley from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: 'Our last sighting of Mohamed is of him walking past Simmons bar towards Putney Bridge. We are confident he did not turn left down Lower Richmond Road or cross over the road towards the church and cinema, but are not clear on his next steps.'
Police are urging anyone who was on or near Putney Bridge around 5.30am on Sunday, or driving on Putney High Street at that time, to check dashcam footage and come forward with information. Anyone with details can call 101 or the incident room on 0208 721 4266.
