Four men arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman reported being sexually assaulted in a GP surgery car park in Swindon have been bailed with conditions, Wiltshire Police have confirmed.

The arrests came shortly after the woman in her 30s, who cannot be named for legal reasons, reported the alleged incident in the early hours of Tuesday morning at the Great Western Surgery in Farriers Close.

Arrests and bail

Police confirmed the men were aged 19, 20 and two 21-year-olds, and were brought into custody after the report. In an update yesterday evening, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “Four men who were arrested yesterday (13/10) in connection with an alleged rape in Swindon, have been bailed with conditions."

The spokesperson added: "The men, ranging in age from 19 to 21 years old, have been interviewed by detectives who are continuing their investigation into the circumstances."

Community reassurance

On Tuesday, Detective Inspector Tom Straker said: “We recognise the concern that this worrying incident will have had in the local community." He added: "We are not currently looking for anyone else in relation to this. You may notice an increased police presence in the area. If you have any concerns, please do approach our officers."

Appeal for information
