A 36-year-old man has been arrested following a series of terrifying incidents across Edinburgh and Leith on Friday, June 19, which left four people injured and hospitalized. Police Scotland confirmed the arrest after a string of events at multiple locations in the west of Edinburgh and Leith.

Incidents Unfold Across the City

The rampage began in the evening, with witnesses capturing footage of a man brandishing what appeared to be a knife while walking along Leith Walk. Another video showed a man armed with multiple blades attempting to break into a shop by smashing a window. Staff fled and locked themselves inside before lowering the shutter. Paramedics were seen attending to a man lying on the ground, while a delivery rider was found injured on Telford Road. Sighthill Park was also cordoned off due to a serious incident.

Police Response and Public Safety

Police Scotland stated: "A 36-year old man has been arrested following a series of incidents at a number of locations across the West of Edinburgh, and Leith, during the evening of Friday, 19 June, 2026. Four people were injured and taken to hospital for treatment. Enquiries are ongoing, however, we believe there to be no further risk to the public at this time." Authorities thanked the public for their assistance.
