An investigation has been launched after the remains of a foetus were discovered under a bridge in Lancashire. The discovery was made at around 3pm under a bridge over the River Ribble near Stonyhurst on Tuesday (August 11).
Police appeal for witnesses
Police were called to the scene close to the area beneath Hodder Bridge in Whalley Road, Lancs Live reports. Lancashire Police have now called for anyone who was in the area between Sunday August 9 and Tuesday August 11 to get in touch.
A spokesperson for the force said: "At 3:13pm on Tuesday August 11 we were called to reports of the discovery of remains of a foetus close to the area beneath Hodder Bridge, Whalley Road, Stonyhurst. Officers attended and a scene is currently in place with enquiries ongoing. We know this is concerning to hear about, and we want to reassure you that a full investigation is under way to determine how the remains came to be at the location they were found."
