Five police officers have been injured after their boat hit Westminster Bridge on the River Thames, the Metropolitan Police said. Casualties were seen being treated by paramedics on a rigid black inflatable boat moored to the side of the river. Police have cordoned off part of the bridge overlooking the Houses of Parliament.
Emergency Response
Numerous police officers, fire brigade personnel and ambulance crews have descended on the scene, bringing traffic on the bridge to a complete halt. A police helicopter and an air ambulance were hovering overhead.
Agencies Involved
A Port of London Authority spokesman stated: "We are aware of an incident involving a police vessel at Westminster Bridge. We are supporting the response and providing assistance where needed, working closely with the Metropolitan Police, HM Coastguard and partner agencies to manage the situation."
Transport Disruption
Transport for London has confirmed that entrances three and four to Westminster Underground station have been closed.
