Firefighters Tackle Blaze on Edinburgh's Princes Street

Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a building on Princes Street in Edinburgh after the alarm was raised in the early hours of Thursday morning. Emergency services were called to the city centre at 2:52am, with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirming that seven fire engines and three specialist appliances were on the scene at 6:45am.

Fire Response and Impact

Pictures posted on social media during the night showed flames and plumes of smoke rising from the area. There have been no reports of any injuries. The fire service continues to work to bring the blaze under control.

Transport Disruptions

The incident has caused significant disruption to transport services in the area. Edinburgh Trams announced that trams are running a part route from Edinburgh Airport to the West End only. Ticket acceptance is in place with ScotRail between Edinburgh Gateway and Edinburgh Waverley (St Andrew Square) and on Lothian Buses between the West End and Newhaven. Lothian Buses reported that some services in the area have been diverted.
