Firefighters are battling a blaze at the Rajah Indian restaurant in Inverness, prompting a police lockdown of several streets in the city centre.
Emergency Response and Road Closures
Emergency crews were called to the restaurant in the Queensgate area at around 12:35pm on Saturday, 27 June 2026. Police Scotland confirmed that Post Office Avenue, Church Street, and Queensgate have been closed, and members of the public are urged to avoid the area.

No Injuries Reported
According to a Police Scotland spokesperson, there are no reports of any injuries. The spokesperson said: "Post Office Avenue, Church Street and Queensgate in Inverness are closed following a report of a fire at a premises on Queensgate, around 12.35pm on Saturday, 27 June, 2026. Emergency services are in attendance and there are no reports of any injuries. Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area."
The cause of the fire is not yet known, and investigations are ongoing. The restaurant, a well-known Indian eatery in the city, was busy at the time of the incident, but all staff and customers were safely evacuated.
