Fire crews are tackling a three-storey fire at a derelict building in Glasgow city centre, with local roads closed and no reports of injuries.
Emergency response on Sauchiehall Street
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the incident on Sauchiehall Street at around 1.36am on Tuesday. Nine fire appliances, one height appliance, and three specialist resources were sent to the scene.
Police Scotland said the fire was reported around 2am on Tuesday, 1 September, 2026. Emergency services remain in attendance this morning.
Road closures in place
Police announced that Sauchiehall Street is closed between Pitt Street and Douglas Street. There are also closures in place on Renfrew Street at Scott Street and Dalhousie Street.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Road closures are in place due to a fire at a derelict building in the Sauchiehall Street area of Glasgow, which was reported around 2am on Tuesday, 1 September, 2026."
"Sauchiehall Street is closed between Pitt Street and Douglas Street. There are also closures in place on Renfrew Street at Scott Street and Dalhousie Street. Emergency services are in attendance. Members of the public are advised to avoid the area at this time."
