A large fire has broken out at a Chinese takeaway in Airdrie, with firefighters rushing to the scene after multiple calls were received at 10am on Friday, August 28.
The blaze is affecting China Gold on Aitken Street in the North Lanarkshire town. Crews descended on the location, and footage shows smoke billowing from the roof of the eatery. Multiple fire engines and police vehicles have been pictured in attendance.
Emergency response
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 10am on Friday, August 28, to multiple reports of a building fire on Aitken Street in Airdrie."
"At its height, Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances to the scene. Firefighters remain at the scene."
It is currently unknown if there are any injuries.
