Dozens of firefighters battled a blaze on a busy Glasgow street this evening after emergency services were called to Springburn Way at around 4.50pm on Sunday, September 27.
Five crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were sent to extinguish the fire, which appeared to have broken out in a first-floor flat above a Ladbrokes store. Images from the scene showed orange flames billowing from the roof of the building, with grey smoke rising into the skies above Springburn in the north of the city. Fire crews were seen using hoses and ladders as they began to tackle the blaze.
Fire brought under control
The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but there were no reports of any injuries. A spokesperson for the fire service confirmed that the blaze has since been brought under control and that one appliance remains on scene.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 4.52pm to a fire on Springburn Way in Glasgow. Operations control mobilised five fire appliances. We are still on scene with one appliance. There were no casualties.”
