Fire damages Keith Grammar School, pupils' return uncertain

A late-night fire has caused damage to Keith Grammar School in Moray, leaving parents uncertain about when it will reopen. Emergency services were called to the school after the blaze broke out at around 7pm on Friday, September 4.

Six fire crews, along with a specialist high reach appliance, were sent to the scene by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) to bring the fire under control. Crews extinguished the blaze within two hours of being called.

Council confirms no deliberate fire

Moray Council said the fire does not appear to have been deliberate, and arrangements for pupils returning on Monday will be shared with parents and carers "as soon as possible". Keith Sports and Community Centre, which occupies the same site as the school, was delayed in opening until 10am on Saturday, September 5.
