Fire crews tackled a major blaze that tore through an abandoned lodge in Fife overnight. Emergency services were called to the derelict lodge at Fordell near Dalgety Bay at around 9.30pm on Tuesday, August 11.
Crews battle flames for hours
Four crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, along with one specialist height appliance, were brought in to tackle the fire at the empty building. One crew and the height appliance remained on scene at 6am on Wednesday, almost nine hours after the fire broke out.
Photos taken from nearby show an orange glow in the night sky as a plume of smoke rises above the lodge. Several fire appliances can also be seen as crews battle to bring the flames under control.
No injuries reported
A video shared on social media showed the orange flames lighting up the dark sky while smoke continued to billow from the building. No injuries have been reported as a result of the fire, and the cause of the blaze is currently unknown.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted to a fire in a derelict building at 9.30pm. No Stop message has been received and one appliance and one height appliance are still at the scene. At its height there were four fire appliances and one height appliance in attendance."
Police Scotland were contacted for comment.
