A murder investigation has been launched after a 45-year-old man was shot dead in Stoke Newington, north London, in the early hours of Tuesday.
Police and paramedics were called to reports of gunfire just after midnight on Stoke Newington High Street. Officers found the victim with gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. A Lime bike was seen lying on the pavement nearby.
Witnesses reported hearing four or more gunshots, followed by shouting and screaming. One witness saw a person fleeing up the high street. No arrests have been made.
Detective Chief Superintendent Brittany Clarke, leading the investigation, said: 'Our team is working at pace to establish the full circumstances. We believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public.'
The victim's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. A crime scene remains in place, and buses are on diversion.
