A Romanian father has died after suffering a heart attack while rushing to the scene of a car crash involving his 23-year-old daughter.
Gheorghe, 45, was travelling with his wife from their village of Vasile Alecsandri in Galați County after learning their daughter had been injured in a collision. En route, he began feeling unwell and managed to pull over on the DN25 road near Șendreni before losing consciousness.
Paramedics from a passing ambulance attempted to revive him for 50 minutes but were unsuccessful. He was declared dead at the scene. Gheorghe had a pre-existing heart stent, and the cause of death was determined to be a heart attack.
His daughter sustained only minor injuries in the low-impact crash, which involved no other vehicles. Traffic was briefly disrupted while police managed the scene. Gheorghe's body has been taken for a post-mortem, and an investigation is ongoing.
Tributes have been posted on social media, with one person recounting efforts to perform cardiac massage until paramedics arrived. Another commenter urged people to 'enjoy every moment of life' in the wake of the tragedy.
