A Teesside family has secured a significant legal victory after a judge ruled that Cleveland Police's failures left them exposed to a prolonged campaign of terrifying abuse from a neighbour. The force has issued a formal apology for its handling of the case, which spanned several years.
The ordeal began when Andrew Sharp moved next door to the family. What followed was a relentless series of threats and acts of intimidation that turned the family's life into a living nightmare. Despite numerous pleas for help, the police response was deemed "wholly inadequate" by the presiding judge.
