Family of four found dead in suspected Taigum murder-suicide

A close-knit community in Brisbane's north has been left reeling after the devastating discovery of four family members deceased inside their Taigum home on Tuesday afternoon.

Queensland Police were called to the property on Bower Street following concerns for the welfare of the residents. Upon arrival, officers made the grim discovery of the bodies of two adults and two children.

While formal identification is yet to be completed, the deceased are believed to be 35-year-old Carra, his partner Samantha, their young son Luke, and daughter Taigum. The family's dog was also found deceased at the property.

Community in Mourning

Neighbours and local residents have expressed profound shock at the tragedy that has unfolded on their quiet street. The area, known for its family-friendly atmosphere, has been described as "typically peaceful and tight-knit" by those who knew the family.

One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, described the family as "quiet and kept to themselves," making the tragedy even more unexpected for the local community.

Police Investigation Underway

Detectives from the Queensland Police Homicide Unit have launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. While the investigation is in its early stages, preliminary evidence suggests this may be a case of murder-suicide.

Police have confirmed they are not looking for any suspects outside of the immediate family unit. A crime scene has been established as forensic officers continue to examine the property for evidence.

Support Services Mobilised

In response to the traumatic incident, support services have been made available to both the responding emergency personnel and affected community members. Local schools have been offered counselling services for students and staff who may be impacted by the tragedy.

Police have urged anyone with information about the family's recent movements or who may have witnessed anything unusual to come forward to assist with their investigation.
