Thick black smoke billowed over Crewe town centre this afternoon following a reported explosion involving a camper van near the Mornflake Stadium on Gresty Road.
Eyewitnesses described hearing a 'loud bang' before flames and smoke rose into the sky. One witness said: 'A van has exploded in Crewe. My brother is at the same and can see the smoke.' Another added: 'There was a big bang and a camper van was on fire. I think it has been put out now.'
