A British former Dreamboy has been charged with murdering his girlfriend at their home in France. George Goodayle, 47, reportedly turned himself in after shooting Jayne Gregory, 49, with a hunting rifle. French prosecutors said he confessed on Monday morning after allegedly shooting her the previous evening. He is said to have claimed it was an accidental shooting.
Officers found Gregory dead with two bullet wounds at the house in Brillac, Charente in southwestern France. They seized a gun thought to be the weapon used. Goodayle was put in police custody on charges of spousal murder. A magistrate from the Angoulême public prosecutor’s office went to the scene, as well as a forensic doctor. Goodayle was put before a judge yesterday and indicted for the murder of a spouse and placed in pre-trial detention.
The couple, both in their 40s, had been dating since June and went on holiday to the Pyrenees together in February. A friend of Jayne, originally from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, told the Sun she moved to France around the end of 2020 or early 2021 “to escape England and start a new life”. The friend said: “She had a previous boyfriend who moved to France to live with her and it didn’t work out. This new boyfriend moved to France to live with her. Where she lived in France was in the middle of nowhere.”
Another friend described her as “an outgoing person” and a “typical northerner”. Angoulême prosecutor Benoît Bernard said: “On March 16, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., a 47-year-old British national, a resident of Brillac since 2016 and with no declared occupation, reported to the Confolens gendarmerie. He confessed to having shot his partner the previous evening with a shotgun. The suspect was taken into custody on suspicion of spousal murder. During his interviews in police custody, the accused suggested the theory of an accidental shooting.”
In March 2011, Goodayle wrote on social media: “I’m gorgeous George from the world famous male strip show the Dreamboys.” He also posted about being in London’s West End and Manchester for the strip show. In October, Gregory shared a loved-up image of them both as she wished him a happy birthday, while referencing his Dreamboys past. She wrote: “I’d like to wish George Goodayle a big fat happy birthday. This has been the most unexpected summer ever. I was definitely not expecting to meet anyone like you out here. And I’m sure you didn’t expect me. My very own dream boy and that you are.”
