Police cordoned off a road in Everton on Sunday night after a suspicious object was found inside a car. The object was later determined to be non-suspicious.

Incident details

At around 9.50pm on Sunday, August 9, police stopped a vehicle on Heyworth Street due to the manner of driving. Officers spotted a suspicious object inside and set up a cordon as a precaution.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed that the object has been checked and is not suspicious.

Arrest made

A 37-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of obstructing or resisting a constable in execution of duty. He remains in police custody.

Photos from the scene showed a large cordon outside a One Stop shop on the corner of Hamilton Road, with a blue Hyundai taxi inside and several police vehicles present.
