Daniel Siad, a French-Swedish modelling scout with close ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has been found dead at his home near Paris, according to the Nanterre prosecutor's office. The 69-year-old faced five rape allegations linked to his role as an alleged recruiter for Epstein.
Discovery and Investigation
Siad was found dead on Monday evening. The prosecutor's office stated, "An investigation to determine the cause of death was opened on Monday evening following the discovery." An autopsy will be carried out as part of the probe.
Allegations and Denials
Siad had not yet been questioned by investigators but denied the allegations, expressing a desire to be heard and give his version of events. His name appeared in more than 1,000 declassified Epstein files released in January.
In the Epstein files, Siad compared his recruitment efforts to fishing: "In This busyness I feel like fisherman some time I cache quick, some time no fish," he wrote to Epstein in 2014. He also mentioned recruiting women from Sweden, Slovakia, France, Russia, and China. Epstein replied, "I will reimburse you of course for any expenses."
Context of Epstein Associates
Siad insisted that Epstein had "taken advantage of his trust." In 2020, French authorities arrested modelling agent Jean-Luc Brunel on allegations he procured women for Epstein. Brunel was found dead in prison in 2022. Epstein died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking.
