A 70-year-old woman remains in hospital after being violently attacked and robbed on a Glasgow street. The incident occurred on Shawmoss Road in Crossmyloof at approximately 19:30 on Thursday, as the victim stood outside a scout hall.
The assailant grabbed the woman and forced her to the ground, causing a broken jaw and extensive bruising. She was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where her condition is described as stable.
Police have launched an appeal for information, describing the suspect as Eastern European, in his late 30s, slim, with short dark hair and thick eyebrows. He was wearing a dark jacket with red trim around the neck and white writing on the left side, along with dark trousers. He is believed not to speak English.
Detective Constable Christopher Sneddon condemned the attack, stating: 'This was a senseless and violent attack on this elderly woman, leaving her with a broken jaw and extensive bruising. The man responsible has no conscience and must be caught as soon as possible.'
Officers are conducting local inquiries and reviewing CCTV footage as part of the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
